🏡 The “Gazebo of Unity” will be equipped in Petrovsky. Why is such a space important to the community?
At first glance, a gazebo in the park may seem like a small change. Several wooden structures, a playground, a place to sit. But for the villagers behind such a construction there are opportunities that were previously lacking.
Where to gather for teenagers after class? For the youth team to discuss the next performance? Where to hold a meeting, organize a game, meet new people or offer an idea that others will join?
In Petrovsky Balakley communityKharkiv region, an initiative group of residents decided to equip such a space in the park area near the House of Culture. This is how the implementation of the project began “Gazebo of Unity”within the framework of the project “Strengthening the Sustainability of the Community through the “Support for Community Initiatives” approach.
For local youth, the gazebo becomesa place where you can spend time outside study, organize creative meetings, youth discussions and joint activities. For the dance troupe “Millennium” and other active residents there will be an additional platform forinteraction. For people who have recently moved to the community, joint meetingscan be an opportunity to meet neighbors and find their social circle.
There is another important dimension. Public life often begins with simple things: someone offered to meet, someoneorganized a game, someone invited neighbors to join. When a place for such meetings isavailable, it is easier for people to turn individual contacts into joint affairs.
That is why the initiative providesarrangement of the site and the path to the gazebo. The space should be convenient forvisits and open to residents of all ages.
“Gazebo of unity” begins withthe specific need of residents of Petrovsky.Its further value will depend on how many meetings will take place here, how many ideas will be found by like-minded people and how many people will feel that there is a place fortheir participation in the life of the community.

The project is implemented by the NGO “Agency of Local Initiatives” on the initiative of the residents of the community and the support of the local authorities. The Ministries are implemented within the project “Strengthening the Resilience of Communities through the “Support for Community Initiatives” approach with financial support from the international humanitarian organization HEKS/EPER (Switzerland) in coordination with the IfF “Public Health Alliance “and with the financial support of Act Alliance.
