EcoLight: solar energy for residents

International Charitable Foundation “Alliance of Public Health”

Scope of implementation:
s. Yaroschivka and s. Bezruky, Solonytsivska TG, Kharkiv district, Kharkiv region

What is this project about?

EcoLight: solar energy for residents is a continuation of the initiative to equip a dangerous section of the road in the villages of Yaroschivka and Bezruky. Previously, the community has already implemented the project “Illuminated Street — Safe Environment”, within which the first 6 lanterns were installed https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1BZ88bD9r6/. Now the next step: installing 5 more autonomous lights with solar panels in areas that are still in the dark.

Why is it important?

Residents of the villages have repeatedly appealed because of the lack of lighting, because the road connecting the four settlements remains completely dark. People are forced to travel more than a kilometer on foot without a single flashlight. Such conditions create risks for injuries, accidents and even crimes. The installation of autonomous solar lamps is both a safety issue and a step towards environmental and energy sustainability of the community.

What will be created?

Under this initiative, there will be:

  • 5 autonomous LED lights with solar panels are installed;
  • a safe section of the road between the villages of Yaroschivka and Bezruky has been arranged;
  • created comfortable conditions for pedestrians and drivers in the evening and at night.

Expected results

What changes will the projects bring?

  • increase the level of public safety;
  • improving the environmental situation through the use of renewable energy;
  • strengthening the image of the community as a participant in the “European Initiative Agreement of Mayors on Climate and Energy”.
