The project provided essential assistance to residents of Kharkiv Region affected by war. People received wood-burning stoves, blankets, sleeping bags and torches — vital supplies for surviving winter.
How it happened
Hostilities left thousands of residents without heat, electricity or basic winter necessities. With donor support, AMI delivered emergency assistance to meet these urgent needs.
Results
The stoves became the only heating source for families who had lost access to central heating. Blankets and sleeping bags helped people stay warm even on the coldest days, while torches provided basic safety and a way to navigate in darkness.
Challenges and achievements
Despite difficult conditions, risks to life and logistical obstacles, all assistance was delivered promptly. Coordinated work by the team and partners made this rapid response possible.
Community impact
The project supported the most vulnerable groups, including people who had lost their homes, internally displaced people, older residents and families with children. Hundreds of families were able to get through winter in safer and more comfortable conditions.
The project’s legacy
Alongside practical assistance, the project became a symbol of support and solidarity. It demonstrated how timely collective action can save lives and reduce suffering during a crisis.
