An island of safety for children

International Charitable Foundation “Alliance of Public Health”

Scope of implementation:
s. Kutuzivka, Vilkhiv hromada, Kharkivskiy district, Kharkiv region

Among the 14 initiatives that received support, we continue to talk about projects that strengthen the safety and well-being of children in communities.

What is this project about?

The Island of Safety for Children is an initiative aimed at completing the arrangement of a safe and comfortable shelter for preschoolers. During periods of constant air alarms, children spend much of their time in storage, so it is important that this space is warm, functional and friendly to the little inhabitants.

Why is it important?

The institution is already partially equipped thanks to the preliminary support of the IfF “Alliance of Public Health” - the shelter received the first furniture. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/17SethL12E/

This is part of a sustainable and integrated approach: but for full functioning, especially in the cold period, additional comfort and conditions for psychological unloading are required.

Children who have experienced traumatic events need an environment where they feel safe, have access to play, rest and warmth.

What will be created?

Within the framework of the project, the shelter will be completed:

  • modern and safe electric heaters
  • cabinets for storing linen and personal belongings
  • play area with dry pool
  • constructors and game tents

What changes will the project bring?

  • warm and comfortable space during a long stay in the shelter
  • creating conditions for play and development
  • formation of a model of complex arrangement of children's shelters
  • building trust and a sense of care among the parent community

Who creates change

The project implements Local Initiatives Agencyon the initiative of teachers, activists and local governments.

They are united by a common goal: to create a safe space in which childhood will last even during airborne anxieties.

The Ministries are implemented within the project “Strengthening the Resilience of Communities through the Support of Communities Initiatives” approach with the financial support of the international humanitarian organization HEKS/EPER (Switzerland) in coordination with Alliance for Public Health
