AMI becomes REPAIR Ukraine’s regional partner in Kharkiv Region
The international initiative to improve reconstruction standards is seeking partner communities in six regions of Ukraine. AMI coordinates the work in Kharkiv Region.
1. How it began
Partnership for Transparency Europe, the NGO 4U and the Odesa regional branch of the nationwide NGO Committee of Voters of Ukraine are implementing the project “Improving Local Standards for Planning and Delivering Reconstruction and Recovery” under the REPAIR Ukraine initiative.
The project covers 20 communities in six regions. AMI is responsible for working with three communities in Kharkiv Region.
2. What communities will receive
The project consists of four stages, running until April 2027.
During the first stage, AMI experts will assess recovery processes in the Vilkhivka, Solonytsivka and Mala Danylivka communities against the Council of Europe’s principles of good governance. Each community will receive an analytical report and a roadmap for change.
During the second stage, a bilingual Ukrainian–English booklet, “Vision for Recovery and Development”, will be prepared for each community, and one reconstruction site will be monitored.
During the third stage, AMI experts will support the implementation of recommendations and record progress through a follow-up assessment.
Final meetings in each community will conclude the project with a discussion of the results achieved.
3. Why this matters to communities
Assessment against the Council of Europe’s principles of good governance gives a community an independent external view of its recovery processes. Recommendations and a roadmap help it improve resource management procedures and decision-making transparency, alongside rebuilding physical infrastructure.
The bilingual booklet helps the community connect with international partners and donors.
4. What comes next?
The project’s findings will inform recommendations to state bodies and international organisations on extending recovery standards to other communities and regions.
