The central square of Solonitsivka is a place where people come just to be near. After sunset, he disappeared into the darkness. The initiative group “Not Indifferent” decided to change this.
The square in the center of the village has long needed lighting. The darkness after sunset actually closed the space for people, and especially for children, elderly residents, those who return home late. The initiative group approached AMI, and together they prepared an application for funding.
For Solonitsivka, the project with light in the square is not the first. The initiative group already had experience in implementing such initiatives, so it approached the purchase with an understanding: what model of lanterns, what height of the supports, which supplier. This reduced the time for approval and gave a better technical specification.
Six solar-powered autonomous street lighting systems have been purchased. The equipment is transferred to the balance of the community.
Installation was moved from winter to spring due to weather conditions, but the lights are already in the community, installation is only a matter of time.
Winter 2025-2026 failed: delivery was delayed due to emergency outages at the supplier, installation had to be postponed. But the team has taken this lesson into account and next time will put a larger time buffer on manufacturing and logistics.
The budget is executed without deviations.
The illuminated square is not about safety in a statistical sense. About the fact that after a hard day there is a place where you can go out in the evening. Where the light is on, which does not depend on whether there is electricity in the network.
Residents have already appealed with a proposal to continue the project and increase the number of lanterns. The community knows what it wants next.
Solonitsivka consistently builds energy-independent infrastructure of public spaces. The project is included in the Development Strategy of Solonytsivska Hromada until 2027.
The square will be the first fully autonomous illuminated public space in the center of the village.
