The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has changed the application procedure for one-off financial payments following the death or disability of service members.
On 17 March, amendments were made to Cabinet Resolution No. 336 of 29 April 2016 on social protection for war veterans and family members of Ukraine’s defenders. The amendments simplify applications for one-off financial assistance for people with war-related disabilities and family members of fallen defenders.
Applications can now be submitted electronically as well as on paper, including through Administrative Service Centres.
Supporting documents need not be submitted if the necessary information:
- is already held by the Ministry of Veterans Affairs;
- is contained in relevant registers and can be obtained through access to those registers or automated electronic information exchange.
The resolution also clarifies that the following people can apply for payments:
- The spouse of a fallen service member.
- Their children.
- Their parents.
- People who were financially dependent on the deceased.
